PAPA

PAPA “At one of our early shows,” says PAPA’s lead singing drummer, Darren Weiss, “Somebody came up to me at the end of our set and called us ‘necessary music’, meaning that he thought it satisfied both the soul and the sole of the shoe. He was high on ecstasy, so I didn’t take it too seriously as a compliment, but I thought, huh, what a great aspiration. I guess that’s what we’ve been trying to achieve this whole time. The band formed in New York City in 2008 while Darren and bassist/songwriting partner Danny Presant we’re attending college, but the duo’s history stretches further, and has set the terms under which the band has operated since it’s inception. They met as children in Los Angeles through Danny’s boyhood neighbors, and together would “pull pranks, look at playboys, go swimming in other people’s pools,” says Presant, “You know, just boy stuff”. But things became more serious as the two began their obsession with music, and the underground culture of the local scenes. “ After a couple of years in New York as students, bus boys, and whatever other menial professions they could find, they moved back to their hometown to set their attention entirely to the work they had begun on the east coast. Shortly after recording their critically acclaimed EP “A Good Woman Is Hard To Find”, they set off for what would be two years of touring with bands like Handsome Furs, Grouplove, Girls, Temper Trap, Lord Huron, and Cold War Kids converting believers both in the states and internationally. Their live show represents their artistry, but also the philosophies of the bands that excited them so as kids. There is immense passion on stage, and the sweat to prove it. One review witnessed, “they hit every note as though they were playing for lunch money,” There are no backing tracks, no auto tune, and no self harmonizing pedals. http://www.papatheband.com/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Papatheband Instagram: @papatheband

The Streethearts

THE STREETHEARTS The Street Hearts, a young indie-rock folk n' soul band composed of five gents, formed in 2011 with the humble pair of Andrew Giurgiun (lead vocals, acoustic guitar) and Nicholai Hansen (vocals, double-bass). The next year, they met their keyboardist and vocalist, Nick Valentini, at UCLA's biggest talent show, Spring Sing, where they also met former member Sarah Summers (vocals, banjo) the year after that. With a wide variety of shows and accomplishments on and off campus in the West Los Angeles area under their collective belt, from Spring Sing's Bruin Choice and Best Band awards to myriad performances in the bars, clubs, and venues of the Sunset Strip, West Hollywood, and the like, The Street Hearts are an eclectic music group that encompass songs of every lyrical genre, from being away from home to failed pursuits of love, from the inevitable doubt and confusion that comes alongside following one's dreams to simply trying to find one's place in the universe -- in other words, trying to make sense of this messy thing called life with the sweet sounds of music. And they've done just that. After only two short years of playing together, The Street Hearts have become an ensemble cast of folk-rock musicians with the addition of two new members in 2014: Nate Schwartz (mandolin, electric guitar) and Nick Velez (drums), also featuring Yasmeen Al-Mazeedi (vocals, violin) on several songs. And, like the graffitied hearts on the streets of Westwood, they've only begun to make their mark, with plans of recording an EP this upcoming summer. UBIQUITOUS LOVE TRIBE

UBIQUITOUS LOVE TRIBE Ubiquitous Love Tribe is, among other less easily describable things, a collective of artists of various mediums striving through creative expression to spread and indulge an appreciation of unique subjective perspective for its own sake, as well as to give and proliferate love, compassion, sincerity, warmth, and lightheartedness... At Ecochella, Osiris Booque, Mantra Majesty, Mud, i, and Velvetian Sky will be performing music drawn mostly from their recent album, The Seven Deadly Sins and Other Short Stories. We are loosely from the triangle formed between Santa Monica, Venice and Culver City, and more specifically from the universe and its ever-abundant life flow. We look forward with smiling eyes to meeting y'all... The End of Summer (Formerly owl fly south)

THE END OF SUMMER (Formerly Owl Fly South) Meet THE END OF SUMMER, a rock and roll four-piece from UCLA whose blazing songs stare you straight in the face and don't look away until they come crashing to a close. Being that their driving yet ethereal sound is indebted to everyone from Bruce Springsteen and Arcade Fire to Tame Impala and Ty Segall, it is no surprise that the band's energetic shows deliver a unique and diverse listening experience. One moment, they conjure up a storm of blistering garage rock fury. Soon after, you may find yourself floating suspended in waves of psychedelic ambient guitar sound. Moments later, you are bouncing to Beatles-esque pop fit for a sunset in the park. Echoed vocals, sweet mellotrons, fuzzy guitars, and pummeling drums combine to create THE END OF SUMMER's powerful rock and roll. All the while, your inner ear is gleefully taking in melodies and hooks galore, while singer/songwriter/guitarist Braeden Henderson's heart-on-sleeve-sincere lyrics evoke grand, picturesque stories from under the Californian sun. The primary topic of discussion here is loss—of innocence, of youth, of love, of life; to listen to THE END OF SUMMER's shimmery, swirling musical textures and blackly honest lyrics is to engage with the deep dissatisfaction that goes hand-in-hand with the impermanence of existence. But, like all loss, the bleakness is bittersweet, accompanied by the glory of a remembrance of what was once great. THE END OF SUMMER's music grieves for the past, but dances in the moonlight of that beautiful nostalgia; a celebratory funeral for everything we'll never see again. NAOMI AND THE BANDITS

NAOMI AND THE BANDITS

Naomi And The Bandits have forged an unprecedented sound that takes listeners on a journey. Heartfelt storytelling and virtuosic musicianship hit listeners like a tidal wave on Naomi And The Bandits' debut EP, GONE. As music lovers influenced by a plethora of musical styles, they simply could not confine themselves to a single genre. Naomi Robin's powerful vocals and intimately soulful songwriting are complemented by Nick Velez's masterful touch and rock-solid pocket behind the drumkit and atop the cajon, by Nate Schwartz's raw and fiery mandolin playing, and by Alex Kish's atlas-like ability to support this immense sound atop the shoulders of his upright bass's earthy tones.

ATTIC EMPIRE

ATTIC EMPIRE

Attic Empire is an 8 piece rock, jazz, funk, alternative, and everything in between band from Burbank, California. We formed in November 2011 after a battle of the bands at The House of Blues on Sunset and have been living the band life ever since. We've since recorded our songs on many occasions, have played at almost every major venue in LA, and have built a nice Los Angeles following. With so many influences coming from all of the band members, we never really hold ourselves down to one sound or genre. We love to explore different kinds of music and that's what separates us from the rest. Each band member has come from a very musical background and has been well trained in musicality, performance, and many other things. Attic Empire will be the next big thing, and that's a promise.
